Butchery Careers
From Britain’s best sausage to world famous pork pies and pasties, so many of Samworth Brother’s great foods start in our butchery departments, with the finest quality meats and hand-trained butchers.
We’ve developed our own Butchery Trainee Programme, so you don’t need to have any previous knife-skills to join our team. Most of our butchers have been trained in-house, using state of the art facilities and dedicated trainers. There’s even opportunities to gain further qualifications such as Apprenticeships.
“I’m given every opportunity to learn from the other more experienced butchers and I’m gaining important knowledge about different areas of
the factory operations.
I’m now able to help newer butchery school trainees progress through the same process I went on and I’m able to share insights of my own experience with them.
The next step for me is that I’m going to be studying to gain a Butchery Level 2 Apprenticeship qualification. But I’m not just learning important butchery skills here at Walkers Deli & Sausage Co, I’m also building effective workplace relationships.”
Dave has continually climbed the ranks at Walkers Deli & Sausage co, having started as a Butcher, worked as a Supervisor, Production Manager and most recently promoted to, Factory Manager, which includes overseeing Butchery, so he knows the production journey inside out.
“Walkers Deli & Sausage co was planned as a stepping stone but 22 years later I’m still here and still enjoying it.
The people here are fantastic and that’s what has kept me here.”
